South African Mutual Life Assurance Society (Stucke's FRIBA nom papers 1910; SAB Sep 1925:23) The South African Mutual Life Assurance Society containing the Mutual Arcade was built in 1898+ under the supervision of Orlando Middleton and opened in 1900. It was demolished in 1958. (Margaret Harradine - Retired Librarian, Port Elizabeth Library) This was replaced by the Old Mutual Building built in 1957.
