Also spelled VAN YSENDYK.
One of the five engineers of the NZASM who left the Netherlands for the ZAR on 28 July 1887, the others of the group being GROLL, STEINMETZ, VAN DER MEULEN and VAN LENNEP. He died of malaria and is buried at Komatipoort, his grave in the cemetery now incorporated into the golf course, with that of his his compatriot, GH VAN DER MEULEN, who suffered the same fate..
