OWEN EATON and TAIT

Established: 1928
Ended: 1934

Architect

The partnership in Port Elizabeth between F OWEN EATON and AA TAIT, styled F Owen Eaton & Tait, which lasted from August 1928 until January 1934, dissolved on the initiative of F Owen Eaton. In 1932 the firm was involved in an unfortunate building collapse during a demolition December 24 1931 in which seven people died. The case came to court and a defence was organised by HJ BROWNLEE in Cape Town. The architect and the builder were found not guilty of negligence. The firm was awarded the 1933 Bronze Medal for the design of the Standard Bank, Grahamstown.
