House served at one stage as landdrost offices. The Stellenbosch Gymnasium was founded here in 1865 and housed here in 1866. It later served as annex to the Theological Seminary across the Road. It retains the original yellow-wood ceilings. Doors and windows are replacements (Fransen 2004:184a). In the 1950s the building was used as a meeting hall for the Debating Society of the University of Stellenbosch. The architect OSLER acquired it as his home in the 1970s, thereafter converting it into the architect's offices. In the C21 it has become a guest house. References: Fransen, Hans. 2004.
