The main face of the foundation stone to the left of the main entrance has the following inscription:

IN MEMORY OF THE BRITISH SETTLERS, 1820.
ALSO
IN HONOUR OF THE CORONATION
OF
KING EDWARD VII

The secondary face of the corner foundation stone on the west elevation has the following inscription:

THIS STONE

SETTLERS'
CENTENARY.
20.4 1920

The Memorial Hall has unfortunately been badly maintained by the local authority and fell into disrepair. On Monday 7 February 2022 the Memorial Hall was set alight and was badly damaged. The building has since been stripped of all usable roofing materials and timber, but the brick walls are fortunately still substantially intact.
