Click to view map Coordinates: | The house was originally built in 1844 for Joseph Smith and known as "Jessieville". By the turn of the century it had been acquired by William Mosenthal (son of Adolph), who altered the house extensively in 1908, giving it the grand appearance it has today. In more recent times it has been restored and converted into offices for the law firm Goldberg and de Villiers. There were attempts in the 1980's to have the house declared a National Monument but the owners at the time, would not support the application. (Gerald Humphrey, September 2017) |
