Click to view large map Coordinates: | Once one of the centres of District Six's Muslim community that was displaced by forced relocation in terms of the Group Areas Act in the 1960s. Together with the Muir Street Mosque and the Aspeling Street Mosque this mosque remained a centre of worship for the displaced congregants. With the destruction of District Six, Ellesmere Street was one of many streets that disappeared. The newly created Constitution Street now runs past the mosque. |
