KALLENBACH and KENNEDY

Established: 1909
Ended: 1928

Architect

The partnership between H KALLENBACH and AM KENNEDY in Johannesburg about 1909/1910 until 1912 and then again from about 1921. They were joined by AS FURNER in 1928 (cf. KALLENBACH, KENNEDY & FURNER). The break in the partnership from around 1912 to about 1921 occurred when Kennedy left for Canada, for reasons as yet unknown but probably related to Kallenbach's commitments to the Indian National Congress. At Kallenbach's invitation Kennedy returned from Canada in about 1921 to rejoin the partnership. It seems that Kennedy reopened the Durban office in which he worked from about 1922 until about 1927.
