| | OLLEY, Christopher JosephBorn: 1849 02 10 Died: 1902 07 28Architect |
In 1882 Olley appears to have been working in Cape Town since it was from an address in Cape Town that he submitted a design for the competition for Durban's first town hall in 1882 under the nom de plume 'Experienced', according to Martin (1980:137). He appears to have been in a partnership with CF ABDEN in Kimberley around 1889 (cf ABDEN and OLLEY). He was working in Johannesburg around 1892 where he was still listed in 1899. It seems that he must have returned to the Cape with the outbreak of the South African War as he is recorded as doing work there from 1900.
His death must have occurred in Johannesburg, as his grave is in the Braamfontein cemetery.
