Sotho architecture

A group of peoples indigenous to Southern Africa, seen as sub-grouping of the Tswana by anthropologists, with their own language, Sesotho. They are the peoples of Lesotho, but found elsewhere on the Highveld of South Africa.

Sotho architecture is the traditional vernacular of the Sotho peoples following customary construction and decorative techniques. Initially the homesteads were distinguished by their snouted thatched entrances, but over time an other influences have evolved into a variety of styles and planning layouts, often richly decorated.
