Natural and Historical Monuments Act, The

_____________________________________________________

The Natural and Historical Monuments Act of 1923 and the appointment of the first Historical Monuments Commission gave this new body fairly wide powers and in addition it enjoyed the support of the Bushman Relics Protection Act of 1911. As a result of its labours and on its recommendation, the 1911 and 1923 Acts were repealed and replaced by the Natural and Historical Monuments, Relics and Antiques Act of 1934.
