'Wolf nose'. The origin of the name, which is Dutch, is obscure. It is a type of half-hipped roof which is terminated by end walls, the tops of which are rounded off as segments of a circle. Above that the thatch slopes back to the roof ridge. What I [Walton] have termed an 'eyebrow' over the entrance to a thatched cottage is also a wolweneus.

Also Wolfend.
