A Protestant domestication of the style of the Counter Reformation, expressed in farmsteads set in extended landscapes with strategically placed architectural features, such as gateposts, walls, and utility buildings, such as wine cellars and fowl runs given architectural treatment, the homesteads following set plans (see Alphabet plans) and having curvilinear gables.
