Red mahogany (Khaya nyasica) of central eastern Africa produces a red wood much used for furniture, counter tops and general joinery. Pod Mahogany (Afzelia quanzensis , found from central Eastern Africa down through eSwatini and Zululand. It is a light-brown timber with good figure, is hard, works well and takes a fine polish. It has been used for construction, furniture, panelling, plywood and parquet block flooring.
