Boer fortifications

During the Anglo Boer War and after the invasion of Pretoria by the British Forces the Boer Forces to the east of Pretoria created makeshift rock forts and dug trenches still visible today in defense of the then Eastern Transvaal. These forts consisted loose packed rubble walls with gun holes and were open to the sky. Other enclosures of the time were rock enclosures to keep horses.
