Mass structural timber

_____________________________________________________

Mass structural timber is of the earliest structural systems, employed by the Romans in classical times and perfected as rational design in the nineteenth century as part of the era of industrialization. It is employed both directly as structural systems, as, for example, bridges, harbour piers, building framing and gantries or as temporary shoring for other structural systems such as stone arched bridges or steel superstructures.
