The caption to the photograph with the croquet lawn in the foreground (above left) reads:
"Harbour engineer's residence – 1897
The Harbour Engineer's residence was designed by W. R. Crabtree and built in 1897. It stood on the eastern bank commanding a magnificent view of the river. Originally it was situated in spacious grounds with its own croquet lawn."
