Click to view map Coordinates: | THIS economical house is on a small, narrow plot. Car and pedestrian entrance is from street on south sides and walkway is up through a covered entrance court to front door where a mural painted on the back of the fireplace greets the guest. From the outside the house appears to have a flat roof. There are four different widths on plan, falling back at different angles to form one fascia level in the interior court. This court also serves as play space for children under observation from the kitchen. Living and dining areas both make full use of outdoor living on north which looks out onto the Cape Town-Bellville National Road. Ref: Wale, Laurie (editor) c. 1964.
