Project Architect was Paul WHITEHEAD assisted by Leon KRUGER. OSMOND LANGE was appointed as architects and principal agents for this Central Distribution Centre in 1997. The warehouse and separate office block, necessitated a short construction period and economic construction costs. A design and construct tender process was agreed with the client and one of the directors and the successful contractor visited Australia to study prefabricated concrete wall and column 'tilt up' construction methods. Using this technique, the 31 000 sqm building and offices was delivered in 10 months at a cost of R55 million. The design of the warehouse will allow it to double in size in future.
