OSMOND LANGE received a South African Institute of Architects (SAIA) Award of Merit in 1991 for the First National Bank in King Williams Town. Constructed in a red face brick, with copper canopies and a large internal glazed atrium, the building responded to the fine scale and grain of the historical context of King Williams Town. An extract from the citation noted that the building was " a strong but subtle statement, very appropriate to the client's image and urban context…" The Director in charge of the project was John DOVEY; the design architect was Lydia FOUCHE.
