Award of Merit Citation

This long-neglected unique row of Victorian houses has been refurbished with a vision of history as a continuous, changeful process. While viability involved the integration of parking basement, and the removal and re-instatement of the outbuildings; the ensemble was given new life in a way which celebrates the past while re-allocating and reconfiguring cellular spaces to accommodate the demands of contemporary comfort and living.

There is restraint exercised in the regeneration of this heritage streetscape of row-houses. Through careful detailing and choice of material and fittings memories of the past are invoked and its footprints read in what is now homes for the well-heeled. The project is merit-worthy in its recycling of existing fabric as a sustainable resource.
