The dwelling was designed by JC Watson and completed in 1906 for the firm of Fraser & Chalmers as the home for its General Manager, WE Park. The Building is a good example of a Johannesburg Edwardian structure designed with uninhibited confidence and displaying many bold architectural elements. In its time it made an important contribution to the unique Architectural character of the suburb. It was declared a National Monument under old NMC [National Monuments Council] legislation on 4 December 1982.
