The foundation stone was laid by Prince Alfred on 18 September 1860. The Home was built to accommodate up to 85 “discharged and destitute” seamen.

1928: Quarters for sailors added by CH SMITH (Pryce-Lewis list 15 473).

This building was demolished in the early 1930s. The site is now part of Thibault Square. (Arthur Radburn).
