(PSB:43) This hotel was one of many in Cape Town that had closed by the mid-1930s and thereafter operated as a bar only. After the hotel closed, the building apart from the bar was occupied by a number of businesses including a laundry, a chemist and a shoe-shop (Walker 2015: 10).
