Due to the depression, it took nearly 10 years for the mother and daughter communities to be able to make use of the church building and the building fund of the young community was depleted so that the laying of the foundation stone of the beautiful stone building took place on 13 April 1935 and the inauguration on 3 April 1937. The building can seat 1,100 people and cost £22 000; the pews cost £2 000 and the German pipe organ £2 000 as well. The architect was Gerard Moerdyk and the contractor A. Fairweather of Kroonstad.
