Later re-named Shinglewood House. The house is extant - but no longer thatched. (William Martinson, October 2010) In 1925, it was the home of Sir Evelyn and Lady Wallers. Sir Evelyn (1876-1934) was a prominent figure in the mining industry, and served three terms as president of the Transvaal Chamber of Mines.
