Barclays Bank
Vrede, Free State

Frederick William MASEY: Architect

Date:1933
Type:Bank
Status:Unknown

THIS building has an unmistakable bank character in its elevation: the stone base up to window sill height gives an impression of solidity, and the recessed portico with its four columns provides shadow and an air of dignity.

The plan contains a banking hall of some 1,200 square feet (111.5 square meter) of floor space, and there is the usual accommodation for manager, stationery, records, etc.
