Some interesting background to this building is to be found on page 14 of the Country Club’s Twenty-Fifth Anniversary Souvenir - transcribed below:

"In the years following the Great War membership increased very rapidly, with the result that the accommodation for resident members became quite inadequate. It was decided to build new quarters west of the Club House, and these were completed in December, 1925. They were immediately occupied, and the best tribute to the comfort which they provide is that there are always more applications for rooms than can be accepted."

The building was for many years described by the Country Club Johannesburg as 'The Dormy House' - it is now known as 'The Lodge'.
