"The large imposing structure near the City and Suburban Company's property at the foot of Marshall Street, Johannesburg, designed with turrets after the style of an old castle, is a landmark in town." The factory was first started in Johannesburg in December 1894 under the name and title of the Acme Cigarette Co. In 1899 became the Three Castles Cigarette Company owned by Paul Kruger. During this time it was painted green. Taken over by United Tobacco who occupied the building until 1953. Damaged by fire in 2013.
