ANGLO-BOER WAR 1899-1902 CENTENARY COMMEMORATIONS
FOLLOW THE FLAGS
THE ANGLES
In 1912 Israel Hayman commissioned Baker
and Fleming to design the house as a gift to his bride.
Hayman, an attorney, served with Marshall's Horse in
Natal and was wounded at Acton Holmes near
Spionkop. He returned to his unit and fought
throughout the war, retiring with the rank of
lieutenant. He received both the Queen's
and King's Medals with seven bars.
