| (SAB Aug 1937:58) The Scala Cinema was Claremont's premier cinema for several decades. It was renamed 'Kine Protea' in 1969, and closed in 1992. The building was demolished in 1994, to make way for an office block. In addition to the cinema, the building housed several shops and some offices.
