This was the second Chubb and Maxwell Building in Cape Town. The first, Chubb and Maxwell Building in Wale Street, was razed by fire.

When Rennie inspected it in November 1977, it was occupied by Johnson & Du Plessis Motors. The building’s name “Chubb & Maxwell Limited” was still on the parapet (Rennie 1978: 187).

The building has carried the name Horizon House since at least 2010 (Google Street View).

(SAB Jul 1935:59; AB&E Jun 1936:9, 11 ill; Pryce-Lewis list 16 054, 16 058).
