Click to view mapCoordinates: 25°44'50.07" S 28°11'18.01" E Alt: 1323m | | The hotel was built in 1890 by Mrs Lys and called the President Hotel. The proprietor was HWF Burger in 1892. In 1895 it became the Grand Hotel, with Mr S Schlomer as proprietor. It was one of the finest hotels in South Africa, comparing very favourably with its European contemporaries. It had accommodation for 70 visitors. (Dunston et al 1975:69)
