The Kat Balcony at the Castle of Good Hope, entrance to the Governor's quarters. It was originally built in 1695 but remodelled in Baroque style in 1785. Proclamations were traditionally read from the balcony. The vertical sundial on the wall is numbered clockwise showing that the structure is in the Southern Hemisphere.
