After only 10 years it would be replaced by a new CTC Control Centre in Durban. Soon after Clairwood CTC came into operation, in c. 1980 a major rollout of CTC in the Durban area began, with the 12 storey CTC building incorporated into the new Durban station (on the Umgeni Road-side of what used to be Greyville station).
