Transcription of Blue Plaque LOWER HOUGHTON HERITAGE NORMANDIE Designed in 1934 by Harold Wolseley Spicer, extensive use of brick and timber detailing and the incorporation of bedrooms in the roof structure make this spacious Arts and Crafts home look deceptively modest in its garden setting. Dr Polonsky, an orthopaedic surgeon, purchased the house in 1939, and his son, the eminent Holocaust historian, Antony Polonsky, was born here in 1940. The house was named Normandie after the elegant French transatlantic liner on which the Polonskys spent their honeymoon. (Source: The Heritage Portal)
