Previously owned by the Lieb family, it was once called South Sands and locally nicknamed the “Peppermint Palace” or “Peppermint Slum.” Expanded during the 1960s. Purchased at auction in 2009 by Demindex Properties, the planned 'Le Diamante' building remained incomplete by 2015 and was never realized. It deteriorated thereafter, was occupied by vagrants and stripped bare, and finally demolished in 2023.
