The Rosebank Match Company, founded in 1899, amalgamated with others to form the Lion Match Company in 1905. It operated from the Rosebank factory until the company moved to new premises in Observatory in 1924. Other firms occupied the buildings until they were demolished in the late 1930s or early 1940s.

The SA Air Force Association built 'Exair' flats on the site after World War II.
