Click to view map Coordinates: | The first pastorie [NGK parsonage] in van der Riet Street was gifted to dominee [Reverend] Van der Riet. The foundation for the new pastorie was laid in December 1880. Work was completed in May 1882 after eighteen months of construction. Over time much restoration and maintenance work was done, although keeping the original facade intact. In the 1970s there was much debate as to whether to complete an extensive renovation or to demolish the building. In 1975 the plans to demolish the building were abandoned. The building is now proudly part of Oudtshoorn’s rich heritage. Alice le Roux, Inc. (Accountants & Auditors) now rent the building from the NG Kerk. (Greater Oudtshoorn Municipality) |
