The Martienssen Brewery stood in Upper Queen Victoria Street on a large tract of ground between Green and Dean Streets, before Perth Road and University Street were built. It was purchased by SA Breweries in 1899 (Walker 2015: 15). Buildings on this site today include the Centre for the Book and St Martini Gardens.
