Out of commission since 2020.

The swimming bath was constructed in 1948 by the Mthatha Municipality on a large property in Sutherland Drive. A granite foundation stone is mounted into a recess in the wall next to the front door.

The change room follows the usual layout for a public swimming bath with a central entrance flanked by an office and ticket booth and passages leading to separate Male and Female change rooms.

Each change room comprised a set of individual changing booths with doors on either side of a corridor which gave access into a larger changing area. The exit from each of the change room leads past an external walled shower area.

The main swimming pool has an unusual format with the main pool flanked by a pair of integral transverse bays which bookend the deepest section of the pool. These two areas of the pool are thereby set aside for diving - allowing swimming to proceed unhindered in the main body of the pool. A separate very much smaller pool was reserved for younger children.

Both of the swimming pools have been drained and the facility has apparently been out of commission for the last two years.
