Diagonally opposite Sacks [Hotel] is the old Mynpacht Hotel on the south-western corner Central and Main Roads. The now-removed date on the gable once read 1896. Its bar and restaurant, Monk's Inn and Red Lantern were popular into the 1980s, mirroring counterparts in Jeppestown like the Cosmopolitan and Grand Station Hotels.
