The site of the memorial is known as "Jeppestown Oval" The inscription on the memorial reads: Erected In Memory Of Julius G.E.C. Jeppe The founder of Jeppestown 1893 Lives of all good men remind us We can make our lives sublime, And departing, leave behind us Footprints in the sands of time. Footprints that perhaps another Sailing o'er life's solemn main; A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. (Derek Walker, August 2021)
