These two houses in the typical vernacular style date from approximately the middle of the nineteenth century. Together they form an interesting unit and an important architectural element of Bredasdorp. (SAHRIS, accessed 2021 03 10) The buildings were declared a National Monument, now a Provincial Heritage Site.
