Millwood House was originally built in the Millwood mining village in the Knysna forests - site of South Africa’s first modern-era gold mining boom. (It was a very short one!)

The building was dismantled and moved to Knysna after the mines were exhausted. It’s now one of the five buildings that make up the Knysna Museum.
