This building was designed and constructed as the first Methodist Church in Cathcart. It became the Methodist Church Hall and Sunday School after the second Church was constructed. After a new Church Hall was constructed adjacent to the second Church, this building was then (from circa 2010) rented to Cathcart High School and was adaptively reused as a boys hostel for Grade 1 to Grade 4 learners. The learners stay there with house-parents and are escorted to the school, a short distance away. (William Martinson, October 2020)
