A series of passes along the Gamkaskloof Road (Otto du Plessis Road) Linking Gamkaskloof - Die Hel - to the Swartberg Pass. Constructed from March 1960 to August 1962 by bulldozer with driver, a foreman and twelve labourers on the eastern flank of the approach to Gamkaskloof in the softer shale of the Swartberg Mountain.
