Built at the turn of the century, the Pink Church was originally the school and concert hall of the town. It continued to function as a school into the 1960s when the new community school was built. (Matjiesfontein website, accessed 2020 03 17)

Fransen. 2004:547 does not mention that the building was previously a school and the design of the building leads one to believe that it was built as a church.
