This church epitomizes and is used as an exemplar by Koorts as demonstrating his architectural principles for the design of the contemporary Reformed Church (Koorts, 1974:129):

1 . Vertikale bou-orde geskep deur vertikale elemente soos kolomme, hoe mure, nisse ens.
2. Skynbare onbegrensdheid geskep deur opbreek van begrensende vlakke of ander metodes.

English translation

1. Vertical building order created by vertical elements such as columns, high walls, niches etc.
2. Apparent limitlessness created by the breaking down of boundary planes or by other means.
3. Horizontal alignment by rhythmic application of elements in a parallel direction.
4. Light play: lighting levels, contrasts between light and shade and colored reflections.
5. Applied art in the form of Christian ornamental motifs [Christograms].

The church originally had columns leading up to the entrance to to symbolise a Temple court these had to be removed due to foundation failure.
