Erected in 1880 by Barry & Nephews, the magazine was used for storage of explosives until 1965. (Richardson 2001:137) The Powder Magazine forms part of the cemetery wall. It seems to be used as a store room for Municipal workers. The powder magazine was declared a National Monument in 1974, and is now a Provincial Heritage Site. References: Richardson, Deirdré. 2001.
